The Carmel Highlands Inn: On The Edge of the Pacific!

FJGR01.jpg

Carmel Highlands is one of our favorite resorts to photograph weddings and we're no strangers to the event staff after 7 years of documenting. We wanted to send a special thanks to 'Lindsey' for being so 'on top' of things and always greeting us with a friendly smile!

FJGR04.jpg

This story begins at the 'ocean view' suite just below the fireside lounge where Felicia and her girlfriends were getting ready (not to mention Moms as well!).

FJGR05.jpg

As you probably know 'amazingjane' always keeps her brides happy with some serious shoe documentation. Check out these babies.

FJGR06.jpg

This wedding turned out to be the 'curler' extravaganza as you will soon see!

FJGR08.jpg

Felicia works in 'Special Education' and has the most calming personality. Although we detected a few nerves with all the commotion going on in the room. We tiptoed around and grabbed some getting ready shots.

FJGR07.jpg

Flower girl.

FJGR02.jpg

We did some bouncing around and caught up with Jeff. Works with cars, makes them jump up and down!

FJGR03.jpg

A scripted moment made to look natural. This is how is goes down sometimes when the guys look at you and say, 'so, what are we doing next?'.

FJGR09.jpg

Back to Felicia and some beautiful window lignt. She looks incredible.

FJGR10.jpg

Team AmazingJane and Team Big Time Video seen here with Felicia.

FJGR11.jpg

We're starting to incorporate more 'Sepia Toned' photos for our clients - creativity is our number one priority.

FJGR12.jpg

Sister on the left and best friends.

FJGR13.jpg

A very proud Mom was on hand every step of the way - we really like that.

FJGR14.jpg

Can you see all the curls? Everyone's got'em!

FJGR15.jpg

From the hotel room, through the lobby, down the stairs, down another corridor to the 'Monarch Room' where brides are stationed for last minute preparations before heading down the aisle.

FJCere01.jpg

Christine Cater does flowers for us all the time now and our clients love her creativity too!

FJCere02.jpg

The 10 meter dash!

FJCere03.jpg

The moment has arrived and it won't last very long! You've got to enjoy every second and take it all in.

FJCere04.jpg

Success! Jeff always makes her laugh.

FJCere05.jpg

Another cool cocktail party and it's time to bustle. They called me (Kevin) from the office to run down and grab this moment - this is what we do!

FJPorts01.jpg

'Check out the ocean honey, is that a bird sanctuary over there?'

FJPorts02.jpg

Felicia and Jeff weren't a very 'posy' couple so we just grabbed shots as they happened. This one's a classic after we cross-processed to Sepia. Cool!

FJRecep04.jpg

The cake that has action! This baby is equipped with hydraulics and does, you know, some serious vibrating, rides high and low, jumps up and down and can instintly put your back out according to some guests attending!

FJRecep02.jpg

Some flip-flops to relax into after a long day and the 'real' cake!

FJRecep01.jpg

Some reception details and...

FJRecep05.jpg

... it's time to party!

FJRecep06.jpg
FJRecep07.jpg

Did we say, 'on the edge of the Pacific'?

FJRecep08.jpg

We're always on hand for toasting and any spontaneous activities during dinner as you can see here!

FJRecep09.jpg

This central valley crowd got it going almost immediately .

FJRecep11.jpg

It's been a very, very, very long time since we've seen this but it was Felicia's fault!!!

FJRecep12.jpg

Just over one hour left to party - we said our goodbyes and thank-you's to Felicia and Jeff.

Don't get too comfortable guys, there are some crazy people on the dance floor and and they need you to get down and party!!!

Congratulations on your perfect wedding at 'The Carmel Highlands Inn'.

Point Lobos: The Ultimate Carmel Backdrop

FD03.jpg

Frances and David chose the 'Carmel Highlands Inn' for their ultimate Monterey Peninsula wedding destination and Point Lobos is the perfect scenic backdrop for the Jane Morba team to document what is called 'The Engagment Session'.

We always start things naturally.

FD01.jpg

After about 5 minutes of walking we got right to shooting.

FD04.jpg

This shot looking towards Pebble Beach.

FD05.jpg

Frances works in the 'Nursing' industry - strong, determined and ready to get married!

FD06.jpg

The people are friendly and so are the deer! In our opinion this State Park is the finest that Monterey County has to offer.

FD07.jpg

It took us about 7 years before we started really appreciating this place... this is the most magical spot for an engagement session.

FD08.jpg

FD10.jpg

We wrapped this location and took a little time to smell the California wildflowers!

FD11.jpg

David works as a doctor of pediatrics- thoughtful, understated and ready to get married!

FD12.jpg

We drove over to Monastery Beach and grabbed a few parting shots. Before they headed back to the Bay Area we invited Frances and David for some drinks and appetizers at the Rio Grill to talk over some wedding details - it's something we love to do! It won't be long before we start documenting the memories of Frances and David's wedding!

The Spirit of Monterey Italian Style!

01NicoleBR05.jpg

This local Monterey Peninsula bride knew exactly what she wanted for her wedding:

some Monterey history, some time on the wharf and of course spend it all with her new husband Paul!

02Nicole03.jpg

We started at the Monterey Marriot Hotel and grabbed a few very meaningful details.

04NicoleGR01.jpg
03NicoleBR02.jpg

Brides aren't the only ones getting ready anymore!

05NicoleGR04.jpg

For Nicole, everything has meaning and it shows.

06NicoleGR06.jpg
07NicoleGR07.jpg

Some last minute touch-ups. Let go outside for portraits!

08NicoleGR08.jpg

09NicoleGR09.jpg

Nicole, Mom and Dad.

10NicoleGR10.jpg

Although it was getting close to ceremony time, Nicole was in control and gave us some incredible energy.

11NicoleGR11.jpg

Ok, so that's wrap for the Monterey Marriot, we'll see you over at the wedding site.

12NPaul01.jpg

Meet Paul.

13NPaul02.jpg

Meet Paul's groomsmen! Everyone in this party is family - and everyone is connected to the tradition of Monterey fishing... Italian style!

14NPCere03.jpg

The ceremony was held at the historic 'Perry Costume House' grounds which was the perfect backdrop for Nicole and Paul's wedding.

15NPCere01.jpg

A few last minutes photos of Nicole and her Dad and... Bentley!

16NPCere05.jpg

Very private, very intimate, very Monterey!

17NPCere06.jpg
18NPCere07.jpg
19NPCere08.jpg
20NPCere09.jpg

Married at last!

21NPCere10.jpg

We've got some family portraits to do but everyone else can go back to the top floor of the Marriot for cocktails! We'll see you there!

22NPCere11.jpg

A very special moment with Nicole's brother.

23NPPorts01.jpg
24NPPorts02.jpg

The familia!

27NPPorts05.jpg

Antique cars are more fun on your wedding day!

28NPPorts06.jpg

After talking to the 'Bentley' driver, we realized that this car was a lot more difficult to drive than your average limo - manual transmission, manual turn indictors, manual steering. After 8 hours of driving this baby you need a massage!

29NPPorts07.jpg

Monterey's first brick house - once again, another great backdrop.... for crazy people!

30NPPorts08.jpg

The girls just want to have fun...

31NPPorts09.jpg

... the boys just want to be boys!

32NPPorts10.jpg

Ok ladies, you're completely finished with the portraits so take a nice walk to the limo and don't forget to the enjoy the scenery!

33NPPorts11.jpg

We couldn't resist this old house!

34NPPorts12.jpg
35NPPorts14.jpg
36NPPorts15.jpg

Everything is within walking distance here. Let's head over to the fishing wharf.

37NPPorts16.jpg

This was the important shot.

38NPPorts17.jpg

Nicole was ready to go public - this is the Monterey Wharf baby!

39NPPorts18.jpg

A few more shots in the Bentley.

40NPPorts19.jpg
41NPPorts20.jpg

And one last portrait .

42NPRecep01.jpg

Dinner, kissing, dinner, kissing. Whew! Let's just make out and maybe they'll stop ringing the bells!

43NPRecep02.jpg

Nicole and Paul celebrated their wedding with a lttle tradition and a whole lot of Monterey history! If you're wondering what to do for your Monterey destination wedding than go no further - we've got the inside scoop on all the cool places in Monterey!

It's a beautiful life!

Let's take a tour of Chateau Julien!

CDE11.jpg

If you're going to celebrate your engagement with some photographic memories then 'Chateau Julien' is the perfect place to get lost in the vineyards and do some serious wine tasting. That's exactly what Chris and Drew were looking for when they traveled from Livermore, CA to experience the finer pleasures of Monterey wine country .

CDE01.jpg

We checked out the wine barrel room and then got to some touring of the property.

CDE03.jpg

Chateau Julien offer traditional and contemporary settings for photography!

CDE05.jpg

We love color!

CDE04.jpg

The vineyard is just a short distance from the Chateau so we took a leisurely walk for some cool backdrops.

CDE07.jpg

After a quick look through the wine tasting room - this seems like a good place to take a break!

CDE06.jpg

It's not always natural for our clients to do engagement sessions but after a while they forget about the camera and sink in to the experience. The front entrance of the Chateau seen here.

CDE09.jpg

Another quick break - we love to shoot against all the beautiful architecture that the Monterey Peninsula wineries have to offer.

CDE10.jpg

Happiness.

CDE12.jpg

We were getting close to wrapping but it seemed like a good idea to revisit the vineyard for one last shot!

CDE02.jpg

Chris and Drew will be having their ceremony in Carmel Valley and then will head back to the coast for cocktail and reception at 'The Carmel Highlands Inn'. They love wine (that's obvious!), they love the beach and they can't wait to entertain family and friends for their wedding! August 2009 will be here before you know it so good luck with all the planning guys!!!

Much more to come.

Golf Instruction at the Carmel Valley Ranch!

CVRG01.jpg

As you probably know by now the Monterey Peninsula has some of the best golf courses found anywhere in the USA and we were excited to help golf pro Todd at Carmel Valley Ranch with the launch of their new 'golf school' for amateurs looking to seriously improve their game.

CVRG02.jpg

We've been slowly developing the commercial side of our business one job at a time and Kevin along with our new associate Kim Kerr have been up to the task!

CVRG03.jpg

We used a 3 foot by 4 foot softbox with a 750 watt monolight (and about 100 feet of extension cord!) to bring out detail on this clear and sunny afternoon.

CVRG04.jpg

Although you might not know it, the wind was a bit gusty so Kim held everything together while Kevin got the shot.

'You ok Kim?, Yah, no problem Kevin just shoot'!!!

CVRG05.jpg

Being taught by a golf pro makes it pretty tempting to come out to Carmel Valley and improve the golf game... see ya on the course! No pressure.

Mayvic and Mark: In the Spirit of Queen Victoria!

MMGetReady02.jpg

Just behind this historic section of Monterey known as 'Cannery Row' you'll find the Monterey Plaza Hotel which has some of the most beautiful views of the Monterey Bay. Texas natives Mayvic and Mark knew exactly how to make their destination wedding totally perfect!

MMGetReady01.jpg

We were all wondering about the name 'Mayvic' so we all learned that Queen Victoria was born in the month of May, and Mayvic was named after Queen Victoria - you guessed it, MAY-VIC! And as it so happens, Queen Victoria's birthday was the same as Mayvic and Mark's wedding day... WOW!!!

MMGetReady03.jpg

This was a Texas family affair which started at The Monterey Plaza hotel with about 50 guests attending. Mayvic really wanted a lot of family shots so we got to work!

MMGetReady07.jpg

As we mentioned, Mayvic and Mark did their homework and decided to get married in Pacific Grove at Lover's Point - it was overcast and a bit cool but the bay was calm and full of magic.

MMGetReady05.jpg

Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas, Mark was certainly one of our most sophisticated grooms but not without an incredible sense of humor as you'll see.

MMGetReady06.jpg

Mark and his beautiful daughters!

MMCere02.jpg

Mayvic arrived in the Antique Rolls Royce, not to be mistaken with the term 'Limo', it's a Rolls Royce!

MMCere01.jpg

Just before getting married, Kevin snaps this photo.

MMCere03.jpg

They chose a slightly different location at Lover's Point which is just behind where couples typically get married but much more private, better views and perfect for photography!

MMCere04.jpg

Uhh, did we mention humor? The ceremony was a blast!

MMCere05.jpg

Although it's almost the beginning of June, Pacific Grove (or PG as we call it) can get cool so tell your guests to bring layers just in case!

MMCere06.jpg

A complete success!

MMCere07.jpg

Ok. Everybody find your own rock and let's celebrate and then go back to the Monterey Plaza Hotel for hor'deurves and cocktails!

MMPorts01.jpg

Our 'Rolls' driver Dio who has some of the best antique cars on the Monterey Peninsula made sure we got a close-up of the winged lady! Mayvic is a total beauty!

MMPorts02.jpg
MMPorts03.jpg

Mayvic requested a shot with these wildflowers - this location is only a minute away and the backdrop is spectacular!

MMPorts04.jpg

We headed back to the hotel and took a few more shots.

MMCocktail01.jpg

Showered with rose petals, Mayvic and Mark make the grand entrance.

MMCocktail02.jpg

Your cocktail hour here. Give Sarah a call at The Monterey Plaza Hotel for more info.

MMRecep01.jpg

The Jane Morba team does it all. Bride and groom portraits, cocktail hour and reception detail coverage happen all at the same time but we have the experience to get it done right!

MMRecep06.jpg

This was a very classy 'buffet style' service for family and friends - the roast beef table was a hit.

MMRecep04.jpg

Just about everyone had something to say...

MMRecep05.jpg

... and Mayvic and Mark were definitely on the receiving end!

MMRecep02.jpg

A very, very meaningful first dance.

MMRecep03.jpg

What an incredible couple! Mark was the perfect gentlemen with a sense of humor that made Mayvic laugh. Mayvic was the Celtic goddess that made everyone feel special including all of us at the Jane Morba Photography studio.

We know they had the time of their lives in California and we got to know some very special people!

Congratulations to Mayvic and Mark!
