March 31st, 2009 -------------------------------------------------------------------- Big Sur Chamber Mixer! |
As members of the 'Big Sur Chamber', we couldn't pass up their spring mixer and check out the new renovation at the 'Ventana Inn'. As some of you might recall, Big Sur endured some of the worst fires in 2008 but have no fear... they've rebuilt and Ventana looks better then ever! This shot above taken by Kevin on the way down to Big Sur. |
Once we arrived, the party was already started and the wine was flowing. We met Jen and John from ExperienceMedia video company and grabbed our good friend (and florist extraordinaire) Christine Cater for a candid photo. Based in Orange County California, Jen and John love to work exclusively in Big Sur and we loved their positive energy and look forward to working with them really soon! |
The overhead shot. This is what really happened! |
Jane connects with old friend Hillary Lipman. |
Plenty of new friends to meet at the Big Sur Spring Mixer 2009! |
We made a great connection with Hotel Consultant and world traveler Daniel from Breckinridge, Colorado (on left) and local Big Sur artist Sofanya. Sofanya was selected to represent Monterey County and design an ornament for the White House Christmas tree in December 2008. She also works as an officiant so if you're looking for someone really cool and artistic to help you get married then Sofanya can be found on the Big Sur Chamber list. |
Now for the big event - the new and improved Ventana Inn! Let's go on a guided tour of the newly renovated rooms! |
Looking for the total Big Sur experience? This traditional Ventana suite is completely ready for hot tub, views, lounging and sitting by the fire with a local glass of Chardonnay! |
Did we say hot tub and views!!! And Chardonnay of course. |
Now for the newly renovated rooms. Very modern and chic. |
Picture yourself in this cool room with modern ammenities, hot tub, views and Chardonnay... of course!!! |
The tour is complete and it's time to head back to the party. |
We absolutely love this architecture! |
The newly renovated pool - a divine experience and bathing suit optional! |

March 22nd, 2009 -------------------------------------------------------------------- Illusions of Grandeur Open House! Let's Party! |
Welcome back to the 'Jane Morba Photography' blog where we try to update as many events as possible to give you an idea of who we are and what we do! This latest open house was featured by 'Illusions of Grandeur' in Sand City, California on Friday March 20, 2009 and they put on quite a show! |
You might recognize the guy on the left hanging out with Wedding Co-ordinators Kristy Hogue of Cordevalle Country Club, Morgan Hill and Florist Christine Cater of 'At the Heart of the Matter'. |
Jane's checking out the 'Wild Plum Cafe' and getting some great information from owner Pam about organic catering! Check out our wedding INFO link for more info. |
Illusions of Grandeur can do some extraordinary event planning on the Monterey Peninsula and beyond - if your looking to add some ambience to your wedding celebration then go no further. |
Wedding Co-ordinators Julie from Pebble Beach and Dayna from Pasadera Country Club. |
We caught this shot of Lisa Nicks, Sales and Marketing at Illusions of Grandeur. |
Their warehouse was decked out from head to toe - every environment had a colorful theme transforming an average space into an incredible installation . We took our rasperry and vanilla champagne on the tour and discovered lots of new ideas! |
Photography colleague Mike Steeleman and Wedding co-ordinator Sarah Ward from the Monterey Plaza Hotel. |
We danced, we partied and then we partied some more to local Monterey band 'The Money Band'. These guys are good friends of ours and in our opinion 'rock it out' better than any band on the Monterey Peninsula. Check them out at www.moneyband.org Whew! This open house was way more fun than we imagined - a special thanks to the folks at Illusions of Grandeur for putting on a fabulous party! |

March 19th, 2009 -------------------------------------------------------------------- Vegas comes to Carmel! |
From the Vegas Conference to an elopement in Carmel with Jacquelyn and David from Las Vegas! Wonderful coincidences do happen and this wonderful couple set our 2009 wedding season in motion with a boutique style experience at the Hotel L'Auberge. Check out some of the old world details. |
While Jacquelyn was getting ready, Kevin grabbed a few casual shots of David. Very classy colors and a very classy guy! |
This wide shot of the courtyard gives a complete feel of the Hotel L'Auberge experience - not to be missed! |
A few 'getting ready' shots of Jacquelyn just before the reveal. If you're wondering who did these awesome flowers, check out Cindy Fones at our 'INFO' link or contact us directly for more great references to make your wedding day a total success! |
As we mention on our website and to our clients, the Jane Morba Photography style uses many different techniques - it all depends on the situation but this slightly more traditional shot is spunked up by shooting from low to high... we call this 'Modern Portraiture' - these shots last forever! |
It's interesting how much a wedding with only two people feels like a wedding with over 200! It doesn't matter what the size is the same rules apply - it's your wedding day! |
|
Let's head to the beach and get married. |
But wait! We need a few more shots of Jacquelyn and David at the front of the building. The light was perfect and Jacquelyn was totally comfortable with the camera. |
Expect moments like these when we shoot your wedding - a little humor goes a long way! |
|
This is Stewart's Cove, south Carmel beach where things are much quieter than Carmel Beach, Carmel-by-the-Sea. The backdrops are gorgeous and our clients own every part of it! |
Ah yes, the emotions are sinking in, this is really happening. |
Congratulations Jacquelyn and David! It was worth the drive from Las Vegas to Carmel - what happened here stays here! |
An absolute must - the beach walk. |
... there is only one for me. |
We had so many wonderful opportunities for photography so we decided to play a little bit more! |
Time to wrap this part of the day and take a quick final beach portrait and then head back to L'Auberge for dinner and celebration. |
It's a short trip to and from the beach and just as we were getting to know each other it was time to say goodbye. Jacquelyn and David made their dream wedding come true in Carmel and were looking forward to a few days off to enjoy the sights and sounds of Carmel. There's something about Vegas people - they know how to live! |
This parting shot features (from left to right) Collette Cuccia, Jacquelyn and David, and Jane! We want to thank Jacquelyn and David for giving us this very laid back gig and a special thanks to Collette for recommending us! If you need an officiant, we'll set you up with Collette - the best in the business! Check out our 'INFO' link for more great vendors on the Monterey Peninsula. We'll see ya soon. |

March 6th, 2009 -------------------------------------------------------------------- Coffee Table Albums Reviewed! |
Winter is almost over and the wedding season is upon us! We've been fielding many questions about our 'Fine Art Coffee Table' wedding albums so this entry should give you a few ideas. |
These albums are professionally bound by our exclusive and custom manufacturer in San Jose, California. The spine is square and when opened lays completely flat for easy viewing - this modern wedding book uses construction techniques for a lifetime of viewing and can be passed on for generations to come! |
Although we recommend specific sizes, our manufacturer can bind this book to just about any size! Our most popular sizes tend to be anything from 5x5 to 11x14. |
Cover openings can add a dramatic touch to the overall presentation of your wedding album! |
Another 'open view' of our 10x10 Fine Art Coffee Table Album. All album designs are created 'in house' at our home studio in Carmel Valley, CA so you can be assured of a totally original and unique creation by Kevin and Jane! |
This profile view gives a sense of thickness. When it comes to cover styles the skies the limit including premium leather, leatherette, and just about any fabric you can think of. The lavender book on top contains 10 pages (20 sides) and the bottom book contains 20 pages (40 sides) - so depending on the number of hours you retain us for, this album will faithfully represent every step of your wedding day and will WOW your family and friends every time! |
